THE HISTORY OF KIRKWOOD'S SWEEPER SHOP

The Kirkwood family entered the vacuum business in 1969. Ron Kirkwood opened a sales office in Florence, Ky. that started as a door to door sales with a service department in house. The business quickly evolved into a retail sales and service store with door to door sales disappearing.

Mark Kirkwood opened the first Sweeper Shop in 1982 in Reading, Oh. under completely separate ownership. Additional stores were opened during the 1980's and 90's.

Ron Kirkwood retired in 1998 and Bob Kirkwood has carried on the original location as well as adding 3 more locations in the Northern Ky and Indiana area.

The location at Dixie Highway in Erlanger, Ky. was opened in 1972 and was completely rebuilt by Bob Kirkwood in 2003.

Now Mark and Bob Kirkwood operate a total of ten stores Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

In 1992 the name on all stores was changed to Kirkwood's Sweeper Shop. Though the Ohio and Kentucky stores are still separately owned and operated, the same great products and services are available at all locations of Kirkwood's Sweeper Shop.
